Here are today’s player ratings after our 6 4-1 victory over Lazio at the Stadio San Paolo:
Reina (6.5): Other than frightening the Napoli faithful early on, the veteran Spaniard was rather untroubled throughout the game. Made some very important strides out the box to quash some through balls.
Rui (7): Much like Hysaj, started the game sluggish, however recovered much quicker and eventually even provided a (sort of) assist for Zielinski’s goal.
Tonelli (7): Well look who it is! Must say his performance was very passionate, showing his blistering pace (for a defender) by blasting the ball from a Lazio counter early on. Doesn’t look too troubled by the intensity of our football, but definitely needs to work on his aerial duels, of which I don’t think I saw him win a single one. Looks to me like a much more reliable substitute as opposed to Chiriches.
Koulibaly (7.5): A rather shaky start from the Senegalese giant it must be said, however as the game wore on his experience persevered and, as always, he ensured that Lazio, after a third minute scare of course, were boxed right out of our half.
Hysaj (6.5): Was certainly potent at times, but overall looked somewhat sluggish, reserving his usual offensive contributions for much later in the match and, early on, constantly beaten by the runs of Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto.
Hamsik (5.5): A very tiresome first half saw Hamsik playing without his usual tenacity, being subbed of at the half way interval for Zielinski.
Allan (8): Explosive right from the start! Allan had a ferocious game, battling with both Milinkovic-Savic and Lullic, coming out on top after a very tough first half. It’s a wonder how powerful the midfield can be when Allan and Jorginho are both in top form!
Jorginho (7.5): Now that’s the Jorginho I’ve come to love. Dazzling feints throwing off opposition, smart interceptions and an absolutely gorgeous assist to top it all off.
Insigne (8): Very unfortunate not to bag a goal, however he didn’t let his unlucky run stop the rest of the team from scoring, playing as unselfishly as ever for the most part.
Mertens (8) Back to goalscoring form for the little Belgian, finishing off an absolutely classy play from the substitute Zielinski. Once again showing his determination, dropping as an option constantly and floating out wide to cover for Insigne.
Callejon (8.5): A man of the match performance from the Spaniard who knows how to put on a show when he needs to. The timing of his runs is so perfectly intelligent, essentially creating our first two goals out of nothing because of it.
Zielinski (7.5): Substituted for Hamsik at halftime and played the part perfectly, providing a classy assist for Mertens after a dazzling run down the left flank, one of his many.
