Napoli 2-1 Chievo- My Fan Reaction- Il mio cuore batteva forte e allo stesso momento pensavo che Napoli vincerà lo Scudetto!
Yesterday’s epic comeback win over Chievo produced many mixed emotions that explained the hardships of being a passionate SSC Napoli Fan. This was a make it or break it match as Napoli were stunned by a draw to Sassuolo last weekend and had to win in order to close the gap on Juventus.
The agony of Chievo’s goal made many fans feel that the season was already over and that our Azzurri were doomed. To make matters it was Giaccherini, a former player who barely played any minutes under Sarri, creat the nice pass to Stepinski who found the back of the net.
Being under lots of stress watching from home and reading about all the heat of Sarri’s stubbornness with squad rotation and rumors of his potential departure days prior made it that much more painful to watch. However, seeing this team evolve under Sarri and witnessing Napoli’s dark years prior to being promoted in Serie A, made only one thought come to mind: Is this really the end of Napoli’s season?
A season that was well over achieved in terms of points and player’s performances, It surely can’t be.
As I was sipping on my espresso wearing my Napoli tracksuit, I had the slightest bit of hope that Napoli would somehow settle for at least a draw and that our scudetto run would not end here.
The moment Arek Milik got subbed on for Hamsik in the 64th minute, something inside of me knew this was just what the calcio Gods of the San Paolo ordered. Milik scored a very nice header in the 89th minute to equalize.
My hope of what would be a miracle did stop here, as Diawara in the dying seconds of the game (90+3) scored a miraculous goal. The youngster neatly tucked the ball into the top right hand corner that brought the crowd to their feet in awe engulfed with joy.
I jumped out of my seat and burst with joy and happiness as my heart could not stop beating with my “blue” Neapolitan blood pumping through my veins. Me fatt’ chiangr’ dalla gioia. Io ci credo ancora!
All the luck was on Napoli’s side as this proved a point that both players coming off the bench could be relied upon and score goals too. Moreover, this despite the goals, Milik and Diawara’s phenomenal gameplay gave us all hope that the Partenopei will keep fighting until the end and just maybe the Scudetto is destined to be ours, surely giving Juventus a scare.
Forza Napoli Sempre!!!
